The tougher and slightly more precarious hiking trail that led us back to Gavarnie village starts at Hotel du Cirque. From the outside bar area, with the waterfall behind you, follow the steep path on the right. It will take you past the hotel and toward Gavarnie. Feel the burn as the trail ascends to 1750m before levelling out.
